Paul Wells

Paul is an experienced Space and Satcoms specialist with over 40 years in the industry. He has a proven delivery track record in creating, running and growing successful technology businesses. This has covered space based customer solutions over many years in Defence, Security and Commercial markets. By defining the strategy, integrating in depth technical and business knowledge, a strong sales and business development approach, along with team building and successful programme delivery has led to delivery of many key customer focussed solutions.

Paul has strong technical and engineering skills in space, communications, systems integration and security solutions covering satcom, earth observation, navigation and space security for both commercial and military applications.

He has helped develop the UK’s Skynet system (engaged in Skynet 2 through to the current Skynet 6); worked with Allied systems as well as starting the UK and 5 eyes work on military use of commercial satcom systems and satcom systems vulnerability.. He has also developed user terminals from paging systems, through handheld to large fixed anchors and mobile terminals covering land, sea and air across all satcom bands.

He spent 5 years in Luxembourg helping the successful launch and operations of the LuxGovSat military satcom system.

He is a Chartered Engineer and the Chair of the Institution of Engineering Satellite Technical Network and is supporting UK MOD as the Interim Chief Satcom Engineer as a Managing Consultant in PA Consulting.
