Mr Johanson leads Archangel Lightworks, which is building high-speed data infrastructure to connect networks in space with networks on the ground.
The core product is TERRA-M, described as the world’s smallest deployable operational optical ground station.
Under his leadership the company closed an oversubscribed Series A round led by Santander Alternative Investments, to commercialise TERRA-M.
It also completed trials of TERRA-M funded by the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory.
His stated focus is rapid, secure data transfer with satellites, from equipment small enough to be redeployed at the point of need.
