Nandan Das has more than two decades of satellite-industry experience, primarily in the PHY and MAC layer design of Ka-band high-throughput satellite systems. His experience spans a range of applications of satellite connectivity including residential broadband, commercial air connectivity, govt and military satcoms, and narrowband communications.
He is currently Global Head of Wireless Standards at Viasat. As a Viasat delegate to 3GPP, he leads the company’s work on integrating non-terrestrial networks (NTN) into 3GPP standards. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Global Satellite Operator’s Association (GSOA) Standards Committee and Chair of the Mobile Satellite Services Association (MSSA) Standards Committee.
His work has resulted in numerous publications and patents, as well as an international Best Paper Award. Nandan is also a part-time lecturer at UC San Diego and San Diego State University. He holds a Ph.D. from UC San Diego, an M.S.E.E. from Stanford University, and a B.S.E. from Harvey Mudd College.
