Emma is an OSINT (open-source intelligence) journalist at BBC Verify, a specialist team in the BBC that fact checks information and counters disinformation. She investigates visual evidence and emerging forms of digital manipulation. Emma uses forensic techniques to analyse audio, video and images, assessing material for signs of AI generation or alteration. Her role includes analysing satellite images, verifying content from conflict zones to produce visual investigations: from tracking the Israeli military expanding their line of control inside Gaza, to examining the scale of Israeli demolitions in south Lebanon and assessing critical damage to US aircraft during the Iran war.
