Dr. Alexander Hamilton is Director of Research & Standards at Nokia Defense. He chairs the NATO Wireless Communications Standards Project (based around on dual-use cellular standards, including NTN), heads up Nokia’s research on Defence communications and is very active in 3GPP, with a focus on 5G-Advanced and 6G. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and a Senior Member of the IEEE, where he is Vice-Chair of the UK & Ireland Information Theory Chapter.

He holds a Visiting Researcher position at the University of Southampton, sits on the industrial advisory board at Newcastle University, and mentors students at the University of Cambridge.

Previously, Dr. Hamilton held roles within the UK government, chairing NATO activity on wireless communications and represented the UK in several multinational settings.
