John provides independent space systems engineering consultancy to industry and government, particularly within the field of satellite navigation systems. In recent years John led the system engineering activities on the UK SBAS Testbed project and the UK Space-Based Positioning Programme, evaluating the viability of various novel PNT concepts, and has produced reports assessing the likely development of LEO PNT capabilities in the near future.
John was the Security & Accreditation Director of the organisation operating the Galileo satellite navigation system during the deployment of the first twelve satellites, following roles in the development of the Galileo system from its early phase studies at the turn of the millennium. Well before that John served as an RAF Engineer Officer, when F4 Phantoms were still on the front line.
John is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and has a PhD in advanced GNSS processing algorithms.
